Nestle "UNHEALTHY" food controversy

   

       Nestle is a Swiss multinational food and drink processing conglomerate corporation headquartered in Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland. It is the largest food company in the world, measured by revenue and other metrics, since 2014.It ranked No. 64 on the Fortune Global 500 in 2017 and No. 33 in the 2016 edition of the Forbes Global 2000 list of largest public companies

             It is the parent company of maggie, kitkat , iced tea nescafe. Nestle promises you good food good life but it is actually selling unhealthy products. Many of these nestle products are failed to meet the  health standards. Nestle products were studied by the Australia's health star rating system and in that 60 percentage of the products did not meet the recognized definition of health. An internal nestle document was then leaked to the media.       


 The document said "some of the nestle products will never be healthy".Only 37 percent of nestle food and beverages by revenue achieved a 3.5 health star rating. 70% of the food products failed to meet the threshold as it's 96% of beverages and 99% of its confectionary and ice cream. It did not include infant food, pet food, coffee instant formula and specialized health food. 

            Nestle sells its nine out of thirty five billionaire brands in India. 46.3% of its sales  in india come from milk and value added milk products, 29.5% of its sales comes from prepared food like maggie. 13.2% from chocolates and confectionaries and 11.1% from beverages like coffee. Most of these products were not included  in the ratings.
